FINAL BUDGET APPROVED FOR THE 2022-23 SCHOOL YEAR:

The Board passed the Final Budget for 2022-2023 that included a 1.5% tax increase. The millage rate will be 117.74 mills. This will equate to a $4.73 increase to the average assessed household of the District. Due to an increase in state gaming relief to taxpayers, the effective tax increase is 0.12%

Macy Sexton

Congratulations to Macy Sexton!
The Chief Science Officers (CSO) Regional Board (representing all of Bucks, Montgomery, Chester, and Delaware counties) has requested that Macy present her STEM Night project during the CSO International Conference on June 18th. 
Only one student was chosen to represent our region -- a huge compliment to Macy's already impressive resume.

FREE Garden Seedlings!

The Palisades Chief Science Officers (CSOs) and the STEM Outreach Club offer each household up to NINE FREE garden vegetable seedlings to residents of the Palisades School District. The seedlings are provided courtesy of the Community Seedlings Program, a program devised by one of our high school seniors, CSO Matt. Aside from Matt's leadership, this project was made possible with grant money from the Palisades Community Foundation.
Varieties: Basil, Cucumber, Leek, Spearmint, Okra, Banana Pepper, Bell Pepper, Cherry Tomato, Regular Tomato.

Distribution:

Pick up will occur June 6-10th from 8AM-3PM at the high school.

Before signing up, you will be required to choose one of these dates. We will have your plants available for pickup in the main office.

Seedlings are First Come First Serve using a digital SignUp - we are limiting distribution to 1 seedling per variety per household (up to nine plants depending upon availability).

Thank you for respecting our mission to reach as many community members as possible.

Tree Dedication

TREE PLANTED AT SPRINGFIELD ELEMENTARY TO HONOR A SPECIAL PERSON:

This past week the Springfield Elementary faculty and staff honored a special individual.  A tree dedication ceremony was held in memory of Springfield's beloved custodian Bill Rodenbaugh.  Alice (his wife), who worked in the cafeteria at Springfield for many years, joined the gang for the presentation.

COMMUNITY PROGRAMS OFFERED:

Dog Training: 7PM in the basketball courts behind the high school on the tennis court side. Starting Wednesday, June 22nd through Wednesday, July 27th. Six (6) weeks of dog obedience training and socialization. Contact Jan Graves at 610-246-2570 or email [email protected]
PHS Fitness Center: The fitness center at PHS will be open throughout the summer months. The center will be open on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday nights from 6-9PM and on Saturday mornings from 8AM until noon. Costs remain $5/visit, $25/month or $200 for the entire year beginning at any time. College students may join for $50 for the summer with college ID. Staff, current students, those in the military and emergency management personnel are FREE.

The Bucks County Tennis Association, Inc (BCTA) is a nonprofit, volunteer-based community association dedicated to providing affordable, quality tennis programs on public tennis courts throughout Bucks County.  BCTA is a registered member of the United States Tennis Association and the 2011 winner of the national Racquet Sports Industry magazine and the USTA Middle States section community tennis association of the year award.

POSITIONS OPEN:

Custodian – part-time at the Palisades Middle School. The interested candidates will also assist with cleaning assigned areas of the school - both independently and as a team, set-up for special events, snow removal, and some lawn care. Position is 3 hrs per day (hours start after 3:00 pm), 12 months, starting as soon as possible. This is a support staff contracted position. Hourly rate: $22.52/hour after a successful probationary period. Additional work hours available during the summer.

Part-Time Food Handler:  Part-time, 6 hours per day (7:30 am to 1:30 pm), 10 month, Food Handler position available starting the beginning of the 2022/2023 school year. Candidate must be able to complete multiple tasks, prepare food, cook meals, serve the student meals, and assist with routine kitchen tasks such as operating kitchen equipment and daily clean-up. Candidates must be willing to become certified in Serv-Safe within the first six months of employment.

(1)  Anticipated Long-Term Substitute Instructional Assistants (IA)/Paraprofessional – part-time, 6 hrs/day, from the beginning of the 2022/2023 school year through December 23, 2022, at Palisades Middle School. IA will assist student(s) in individual and small group settings with students with special needs. The ability to work calmly with student(s) exhibiting behavioral and academic challenges and an ability to follow the direction of professional staff is needed. Although not required, those with a teaching certification are encouraged to apply.

Applicants must have strong technology skills, be highly qualified as defined by federal standards, which require either two completed years of study at an institution of higher education, an associate’s (or higher) degree, or PDE Highly Qualified certification.

1 - Long-Term Substitute Second Grade Elementary Teacher – Long-term substitute elementary second grade teacher position available at Durham Nockamixon Elementary starting the beginning of the 2022/2023 school year, through the end of the first semester of the 2022/2023 school year. The qualified applicants must have a current PA certification in Elementary Education for second grade and have a strong understanding of best practices and instructional techniques for elementary-aged students. Responsibilities include working with students in the regular education classroom while differentiating instruction for students through small groups using effective intervention and enrichment strategies.  The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate a child-centered approach to teaching and learning, a commitment to fostering a positive and safe classroom environment, and have a working knowledge of social and emotional learning strategies and best practices.
