Non-Athletic EDRS

Operetta Directors: The following 2 non-athletic EDRs are available for the 2019/2020 school year for Durham-Nockamixon and Tinicum Elementary Schools, one position at each building.  A brief description of the position is listed along with the stipend amount per position. By October 23, 2019, all interested candidates must email their letter of interest, resume, clearances (Acts 24, 34, 114, and 151, current within a year), and disclosure forms (Act 168) to the principal of the building they would like to apply to Durham Nockamixon: Marie Collie - mcollie@palisadessd.org, Tinicum: Janet Link - jlink@palisadessd.org    While an operetta (a play set to music) can continue as such, the selected director, in consultation with the building principal, may design an opportunity for students in grades four and five to practice performance skills, which include the memorization of lines.  Based on this decision, the performance may or may not include singing, dancing, and/or acting. OPERETTA DIRECTOR (Each Stipend Amount $1256)

The rehearsals take place before or after school and some evenings.

Requirements:

  • Has the ability to lead a group of fourth and fifth grade students in a theatrical performance of the director and principal’s direction and of student interest
  • Oversee with choreographing students in order to best present the story and the music, as necessary based on the type of performance selected
  • Oversee with lighting design, creating a light plot, and creating an efficient set design, as necessary
  • Assist with gathering and purchasing props needed for the show
  • Create props that cannot be purchased that may be needed for the show, if necessary
  • Assist with costume design, if appropriate
  • Coordinate rehearsal schedule and run rehearsals
  • Communicates with students, parents and staff

 

Odyssey of the Mind: non-athletic EDR is available for the 2019/2020 school year for the Palisades School District.  A brief description of the position is listed along with the stipend amount per position. The Odyssey of the Mind teaches students to learn creative problem-solving methods while having fun in the process. For more than twenty-five years, this unique program has helped teachers generate excitement in their students. By tapping into creativity, and through encouraging imaginative paths to problem-solving, students learn skills that will provide them with the ability to solve problems both great and small for a lifetime. Students are free to express their ideas and suggestions without fear of criticism. The creative problem-solving rewards thinking "outside of the box." EOE

Odyssey of the Mind (Stipend Amount $1256)

Meetings take place before or after school and some evenings. Participation year runs from November 1 to October 31 of the subsequent year.

Requirements:

  • Support Palisades Teams in their participation within the Regional, State and World Odyssey of the Mind Competitions.
  • Strengthen teamwork among the Palisades Odyssey of the Mind teams;
  • Build membership within the Palisades School District;
  • Support new teams/start up;
  • Strengthen the confidence of students in themselves, their work and teammates;
  • Create interest in and understanding of the Odyssey of the Mind Program throughout the district;
  • Recruit students to the OM program at all education levels;
  • Recruit Coaches to the OM program;
  • Develop and strengthen spontaneous problem solving skills;
  • Fundraise to help offset the costs of participation in the Odyssey of the Mind Program;
  • Uphold established bylaws.

All employees of the Palisades School District MUST complete the Act 126 Child Abuse Training Requirement within 30 days of their first day of work. It is the employee's responsibility to complete this training on time. See training link "Act 126" to the left to begin training.
