GETTING READY FOR GRADUATION...ANNOUNCING OPERATION RECOGNITION PROGRAM FOR OUR VETERANS!

Dear Honorable Veteran of World War II, Korean Conflict, or Vietnam War,

The Palisades School District is pleased to announce our participation in the Operation Recognition Program as established by the Pennsylvania State Legislature.

The Operation Recognition Program authorizes school districts to grant a high school diploma to any eligible honorably discharged veteran who served in the United States military during World War II (Act 73 of 2001), the Korean Conflict (Act 187 of 2002) or the Vietnam War (Act 104 of 2010).   

The acts state that in order to recognize and honor veterans who left high school prior to graduation to serve in World War II, Korea, or Vietnam, the Board shall grant a diploma to a veteran who meets the following requirements:
*
Was honorably discharged from the Armed Forces of the United States of America
Served in the U.S. military between September 16, 1940 and December 31, 1946 or between June 27, 1950 and January 30, 1955 or between February 28, 1961 and May 7, 1975.
*
Attended high school between 1937 and 1946 during WW II or between 1947 and 1955 during Korean Conflict or between 1958 and 1975 during the Vietnam War.
*
Would have been a member of a graduating Class of 1941 through 1950 for WW II; or Class of 1951 through 1957 for Korean Conflict and Class of 1961 through 1975 for Vietnam War but did not graduate due to entry into military service.
*
Is a current resident of this district OR attended high school in this district or a predecessor of this district (Nockamixon High School, Springfield High School, Frenchtown High School.)

 

Upon proper application, a diploma shall be awarded posthumously to a veteran who meets the stated requirements.  A family member must complete the application on their behalf.

Help Wanted at PSD

Part-Time Food Handlers:  Part-time, 10 month, Food Handler positions available as soon as possible at the Palisades School District. Candidates must be able to complete multiple tasks, prepare food, cook meals, serve the student meals, and assist with routine kitchen tasks such as operating kitchen equipment and daily clean-up. 

 

Positions Available:

  • 5.5 hrs per student day at the High School 
  • 2.5 hours per student day at Tinicum Elementary

Note: In your letter of interest, please be sure to include which position(s) you are interested in applying for.

 

Palisades requires a pre-employment drug test as a condition of employment.

ATTENTION PARENTS:  Students will be able to attend UBCTS starting in 9th grade!

Students interested in attending the tech school for the 2022-23 school year must complete an online application.  The application is available using this link and should be completed by February 21st.  Completed applications are required to be considered for all shop areas.  Videos are available to review the programs through their website and students/parents are encouraged to view videos for shops for which they are interested in applying.

Yesterday, for the first time ever, Palisades fielded a Bocce Ball team that competed against Pennridge High School! Congratulations to our team who consisted of the following members:  Grace Bucich, Leo Cerborino, Kylie Helfrich, Olivia Lessing, Grace Martens, Kassie Mundhenk, and Averie Winsor. The team is coached by Mr. Derrick Tilburg and Mrs. Dani Thomas. The outstanding referees were seniors, Hugh Salva and Gianluca LeBlanc.

On Wednesday, February 2 students from the Upper Bucks County Technical School competed in the USASkill District 11 competition at Ag Hall in Allentown, PA. The Palisades High School Social Studies department is encouraging all students who will be 18-years-old by the time of the May 17th, 2022 election to register to vote!

PALISADES COMMUNITY FOUNDATION...WE ARE HERE FOR PALISADES!
This week, the Palisades Community Foundation donated 50 hoagie and treat bags to the Eastern Upper Buck Senior Center!  This was made possible by the donations received by Palisades Community Foundation's Neighbors Helping Neighbors fund.  You will remember that PCF also fed families during the pandemic throughout the summer months using this fund!  Thank you to everyone who donated to our Foundation and to our Board Members for their commitment to this community.  For more information about PCF, please visit the website Palisades Community Foundation
