ATTENTION PARENTS/GUARDIANS! Internet Safety Presentation
On Tuesday, January 24th at 6:00 PM in the high school auditorium, the Palisades School District will host an Internet Safety presentation. Senior Special Agent Argetsinger will be presenting a program called “Internet Safety and Children”, which was created by the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children. “Internet Safety and Children” will help parents/guardians understand the risks children face when they are using the internet and ways to mitigate those risks. Topics covered will include: Inappropriate content, Online privacy, Sexting, Online sexual solicitation, and Cyberbullying. If you would like more information about the program, please click this link - social media event.pdf
REGARDING INTERNET AVAILABILITY:
We are making all parents/guardians aware that the Federal Communication Commission has produced a national broadband map that every person in the nation can review for accuracy. This map was created as a result of the broadband challenges uncovered by remote school and work during the pandemic. The Federal Government has allocated funding for improving broadband infrastructure and has directed the FCC to lead this improvement. The national broadband map was created by combining FCC broadband maps and ISP broadband maps.
This is your chance to have input on the accuracy of broadband service and its availability to your home or multiple properties if you own them. For more information, please refer to https://www.fcc.gov/BroadbandData/consumers
The link to the map is https://broadbandmap.fcc.gov/home. If you do not agree with the information you find here, you can submit either a Location Challenge (where you're challenging the fact the broadband is available or not at the location) or an Availability Challenge (where you're challenging the Down and Up speeds indicated by the ISP).
All challenges must be submitted by Monday, January 9, 2023. It is very important for every individual in the nation to review this map in order for the FCC to make it more accurate and funnel Federal funds to the building of broadband infrastructure where it doesn't exist (unserved communities) or is underserved (Down/Up speed is poor).
