Palisades School District

1:1 program

Welcome to the Palisades School District One to One (1:1) Program website. Our goal is for every student in grades K-12 to have access to a computer to use for doing school work. This initiative is known as a 1:1 program - one device for every student.

Within this site you will find information about:

about the program

The 1:1 Program

All students in grades K-12 will be provided with a Chromebook (including a carrying case and charger) for use to do school work at no cost to parents.

The device will remain the property of the school district and will be required to be returned at the end of your student's career in Palisades

All use of District owned equipment is subject to the Palisades School District Acceptable Internet and Electronic Technology Use Policy which can be found by clicking here.

We have chosen a Chromebook as the device used for the 1:1 program, and you can read more about the reasons why on the Types of Devices page of this website.  Chromebooks allow for easy access to the Google ecosystem, as well as the many other resources available over the Internet for use in the classroom and at home.

Within the borders of Palisades School District there are several Internet access options available; some you may not even be aware of.  We've also created an option for those with a financial need and can't afford Internet access at home.  Please check the Internet Access page for more information.

One of the nice options about Google's G Suite for Education and Chromebooks is that a lot of the software is free to use.  Software for writing papers, creating spreadsheets, and also creating presentations is all cost free.  You can see some of these free options as well as options available at an educational discount on the software page of this site.

On this page you can see the web applications we have standardized on plus a listing of tools that Palisades teachers might use with your child.

An optional annual fee will be available to cover accidental damage, theft, vandalism, mechanical failure, and manufacturer defects. We have partnered with a third party insurance provider for this protection plan. You can get more information regarding this accidental damage fee on the Insurance page of this site.
