Lou deFonteny

WELCOME OUR NEW DIRECTOR OF STUDENT SERVICES TO THE PALISADES TEAM!

Next week, Mr. Lou deFonteny will begin in his role as the Director of Student Services, replacing Mr. Gladfelter who is retiring this year.  Although we will sincerely miss Eric Gladfelter and wish him well in his retirement, we are looking forward to working with Lou deFonteny and offer him a warm Palisades welcome!  (Lou and daughter, Sarah, pictured above.)

Here is a little information about our new administrator, Mr. deFonteny:

Tell Us About Your Family:  I married my middle school sweetheart, Sharon, and have 4 children (two boys: Tommy 19 Bryce 15, two girls: Emily 17, Sarah 13); All of our children are involved in sports including soccer, basketball, field hockey and dance which is where we spend most of our time. I am the coach of my daughter's U14 Girls travel soccer team. When not on a field or in an auditorium, we enjoy spending time with our extended family at the beach.

How About Your Career?  I was blessed to have grown up in Bristol Township where I began working with students with disabilities in summer programs when I was 14 years old. Although I knew in 6th grade that I wanted to work with students with disabilities in 6th grade, my work in the ESY programs solidified my desire to work with students with disabilities. This led to me getting my degree in special education from Bloomsburg university and a 27 year career  in Bristol Township as a special education teacher, principal, supervisor of special education and director of special education and pupil services.

What is Your Philosophy and Drives Your Work?  "Every Student Every Day" taken from my time in Bristol Township; All students want to feel safe, belong to something special, and be successful. If we invest the time in knowing our students,  provide supports and services to help them feel safe, and are genuine in our approach, we will foster lasting relationships that will empower students to take risks as learners and achieve their goals.

RECEIVED A GIFT CARD FOR THE HOLIDAYS THAT YOU WON'T USE?  CONSIDER DONATING IT TO PCF FOR REDISTRIBUTION TO FAMILIES IN NEED:

This is a great way to help families in our community without spending your money to do so.  If you have a gift certificate that will go unused by you, why not donate it to the Palisades Community Foundation for redistribution to another family who would welcome the assistance!  Gift cards can be mailed to PO Box 194; Kintnersville, PA  18930 OR drop off at the high school main office between 7AM and 3PM (please mark attention Donna Holmes).  Thank you for your consideration!

BRICK SALES RETURN!

Use this P.C.F. Brick Application Form to purchase your commemorative brick which will be installed at the Walter T. Rohrer Stadium at PHS.  We have found a mason to help us get these bricks (past and present) installed!  Thanks for your consideration and for supporting PCF!

In the past PCF has helped our community with funding for numerous projects such as the stadium lighting, the all weather track, and murals at our schools...just to name a few. PCF also gives many grants to our students and teachers to help fund various projects and activities throughout the year.

We also give back to our community members in need. This past year, PCF offered hundreds of free dinners each week over the summer  to our neighbors that were negatively impacted by the COVID -19 economic disruptions and we have purchased gifts and gift cards for families needing some extra help over the holidays!
