Veterans Day Celebration at Tinicum
A SALUTE TO OUR VETERANS:

At Tinicum,  on Monday, in honor of Veteran’s Day, we were joined by 15 veterans who are relatives of our students. These students and their veteran guests enjoyed a breakfast sponsored by the Tinicum staff, and the veterans then enjoyed being honored and celebrated by all of our students during a Veteran’s Day assembly. Thank you to all students who participated, and most importantly, thank you for your service, veterans!  (Please note:  all of our schools celebrated Veterans Day, as is our custom each year.

PSDtv - THIS WEEK'S VIDEO SUBMISSION

THIS WEEK'S SPOTLIGHT:  BUILDING RELATIONS WITH LOCAL EMERGENCY RESPONDERS AND OUR LOCAL POLICE DEPARTMENTS:

In Palisades School District, the work of our local emergency management personnel and first responders is important to all of us.  Covering 100 square miles in Palisades, these committed individuals serve and protect the residents in our district and for that we are truly thankful.

Each school year, our Superintendent, Dr. O’Connell, holds a minimum of two meetings with representatives from the local emergency management organizations including local fire departments, township representatives, legislators and police.  At these meetings, Palisades school district administration and these representatives discuss national, regional and local trends affecting safety and security in our schools. If an emergency situation were to occur, the group will come together to debrief and discuss how the situation was handled and what can be done to improve our response and better serve our students and staff.

The relationships with local emergency management organizations in our community are important and are continually nurtured. Regular conversations and contact occur throughout the year with these individuals.  As a district, we encourage our local police and other representatives of these organizations to visit our schools and to participate in our safety and security walkthroughs. These individuals are often in our schools and interact with students, staff and administrators.

Through this “open door policy” with local our first responders, we maintain important relationships to help keep our buildings safe.
