THIS WEEK'S SPOTLIGHT:  Fiscal Responsibility/Budgeting

With budget presentations beginning before the Regular School Board Meeting on November 20th at 6PM in the high school library, it is a good time to remind you of the work being done in this area.

The School Board and administration at Palisades remains committed to providing an excellent education for the students of this community while remaining fiscally responsible with taxpayer funds. Our approach to budgeting has kept tax increases low while saving for increasing retirement costs, funding facilities upgrades and supporting programs that have garnered state and national recognition including: AP District Honor Roll, District of Distinction for career pathway programs, Don Eichhorn: Schools to Watch at Palisades Middle School and Schoolwide Positive Behavior Supports in our elementary schools.

We are proud of the many programs and services we offer students and their families - programs both in and outside of our core curriculum - math, science, social studies, English/Language Arts, and physical fitness.  We offer programs like World Language in elementary (Spanish) through High School (French, German and Spanish), Family Consumer Sciences (middle school) and Financial Literacy (high school), 15 Advanced Placement Courses (high school), as well as various electives in art/engineering, vocal and instrumental music, in addition to a wide variety of clubs, activities and sports opportunities for our students.

Operationally speaking, we continually maintain and upgrade our buildings and grounds, provide healthy selections each day in our cafeterias, make available the technology that students need to promote enriched learning experiences, safely deliver students to their destinations, provide support services for students and routinely communicate with our school community.

All of these items mentioned above are just some of the many aspects of student-life in the Palisades School District.  Here are a few others that we feel are important:

Palisades Pirates

FROM PALISADES HIGH SCHOOL:

PALISADES PIRATES, MARK CHILTON, STEPS DOWN AS HEAD SOCCER COACH:

Mark Chilton, Head Girls Soccer Coach at Palisades High School, announced his resignation today.

During the past 19 years as an assistant coach and as head coach of the Pirates, Mark has been a part of the program’s successes.  Among the achievements under Mark’s leadership, the Pirates enjoyed clinching the District XI Title in 2018 and Mark was also named Morning Call Coach of the Year that same year.  Chilton recorded 112 career wins as a coach for the Pirates and has seen many of his players go on to compete at the collegiate level.

Rich Heffernan, principal of PHS says of Chilton, “Mark has done an outstanding job with our Girls Soccer program at Palisades.  Our student-athletes, the school and the entire community have benefitted from his commitment as a coach and a leader.”

Brian Gilbert, Athletic Director of PHS says of Chilton, “We thank Mark for all his years of dedication to the Girls Soccer Program and wish him the best in his future endeavors.”

From Coach Chilton, “I want to thank the players, coaches, and their families from all of my years for their dedication and commitment.”

Mark Chilton will continue in his position as a Science teacher at Palisades High School.
