League of Women Voters Registration Drive
LEAGUE OF WOMEN VOTERS REGISTRATION DRIVE:
This week, representatives from the League of Women Voters encouraged students who are 18 to register to vote!  U S A ! ! !

Each year we honor former Palisades teacher / coach / Wilson HS graduate - Mr. Tom Poynton.  At the Palisades vs Wilson, MVP’s from each team are awarded the Tom Poynton Award. Congratulations to Senior, Trey Gretzinger for this achievement - 10 carries for 186 yards and 5 TD’s during that game.


Also in Week #1 of the season Trey was awarded the Coordinated Health Player of the Week.  As the weekly winner Trey will be awarded a $500.00 scholarship and will be eligible for the Athlete of the Year award which is a $10,000 scholarship.


And he is not done yet! Also do to his performance in week #1 Trey was awarded the National Football Foundation Lehigh Valley Chapter Player of the Week.

NEW COURSES ADOPTED AT PHS FOR THE 2019-20 SCHOOL YEAR! This week, the PSD School Board unanimously approved 2 new courses for PHS for the 2019-20 school year - AP Computer Science (we will now offer 15 Advanced Placement Courses) and Financial Literacy (a new graduation requirement). Specific course information can be found on our website www.palisd.org under Department/Curriculum - Mathematics for AP Computer Science and Business for Financial Literacy. Thank you to our teachers, administration and School Board for making this happen for students!

SAFESTOP COMING TO YOU SOON! At this week's meeting of the Palisades School Board, the board approved the purchase of a new mobile app called SAFESTOP. More information will be sent to families soon! WHAT IS SAFESTOP? * A FREE service * Provides user with estimated bus arrival times and bus locator * Pushes notifications to users for delay or postponements in service * Has secure registration for only authorized users

DR. O'CONNELL AT SENATE MAJORITY POLICY COMMITTEE: 
This local conference, held at Quakertown School District, was focused on school safety and security.  In attendance were State Senators Argall, Mensch and Regan, along with Representative Staats and many school district administrators from area school districts.  Keeping students safe in PA is a priority!


PALISADES TOWN HALL MEETING ON SAFETY AND SECURITY... SAVE THE DATE:

On Tuesday, November 13th, Palisades School District will host a TOWN HALL MEETING ON SAFETY AND SECURITY.   Please join us on this evening from 6:30-8PM at Palisades Middle School, as we hear from a distinguished panel of experts in the field including Matt Weintraub, District Attorney of Bucks County, and representatives from the law enforcement, family health and mental health fields.  Light refreshments will be served in the lobby at 6:00PM and child care will be available for children (ages 4+).  Please add this important date to your calendar. Reservations for childcare can be made by emailing Deana Cronk with number and ages of children.

Drug Take Back Logo

NATIONAL DRUG TAKE BACK DAY SCHEDULED:  The national drug take back day has been scheduled for Saturday, October 27th - please drop off any unused or unwanted prescription drugs at Springfield Elementary School or Wehrungs between 10AM and 2PM.  Get them out of your medicine cabinets and keep them away from our youth! Also, it is better to drop off than to flush into our water system - thanks for keeping our community safe!


Over 54 tons of unused/unwanted drugs have been collected since the beginning of the program!


There are 10 drop sites in Upper Bucks.  The 8 Police Departments will be at their regular sites including:  Dublin, Hilltown, Pennridge Regional, Tinicum (at Wehrungs), Perkasie, Quakertown, Richland Township and Springfield Township (at Springfield Elementary School).  We also will now have drop sites on that day at Grandview Hospital Outpatient Center and St. Luke's Quakertown.

Springfield Township 275 Years

 

Fun family day out!  Springfield Township is celebrating its 275th anniversary!  Please join the festivities Saturday, September 22nd, at the Silver Creek Grove in Springtown (Springfield Township) for a day filled with fun family activities, local vendors, food & drink, community organizations, historical artifacts, live music, free face painting, magic show, pony rides, moon bounce, car cruise, silent auction, fireworks and more!  

 

The PHS Marching Band and Madrigals will be performing at this event!  Join the fun and support our students!

A Little Princess

PALISADE HIGH SCHOOL PROUDLY PRESENTS... "A Little Princess" will be held on Friday, November 9th (7PM) and Saturday, November 10th (1PM).  This year's fall play is being produced by PHS students, Anna Leinenbach and Julia Costello.

ELEMENTARY SCHOOL SKI PROGRAM:  The 2018/2019 Palisades Elementary Ski Program has begun!  Please review this flyer for more information- Elementary Ski Program Flyer For those familiar with the program, it is largely the same, with these notable exceptions:


1. Lessons are now limited to age 8 and up

2. You can use the program tickets any day starting March 4,2019.


For those unfamiliar with the program, please see the attached flyer.


If you'd like to participate, send an email to [email protected]  no later than October 5th, 2018.  You will then receive a signup link, which will direct you to Blue Mountain's website to sign up for the program. Please do not share this link, as without a list of who purchases tickets I will not be able to get them to you.

BUCKS COUNTY SUICIDE PREVENTION TASK FORCE:  #holdonyoumatter Walk to raise money and and awareness for suicide prevention in Bucks County.  Walk will be held on Saturday, October 20th.  See attached flyer - You Are Not Alone

STATE POLICE ANNOUNCES THE SUNNY DAY CAMP:

This year's Sunny Day Camp will be held on October 27th at the Dublin Fire Department.

 

This is a one day camp for children and adults with special needs. This camp is designed to build a relationship with the special needs community by offering a fun filled day.

 

There will be a ton of police, fire and EMS equipment on site along with the PA State Police helicopter and horses.  Games will be played and lunch provided.
