INSPIRED TO LEAD...PREPARED TO SUCCEED!
GRADUATION FOR THE CLASS OF 2019:

The graduation ceremony last Friday could not have been more lovely! The evening's weather was perfect for an outdoor ceremony; the speeches by our students Peri Kukowski and Julia Costello were reflective and motivating; the wonderful tribute to Abby Stauffer by Peri Kukowski, Grace O'Brien and the entire class was very moving; the honoring of our students and those in the military by Dr. O'Connell was humbling; the words of inspiration by Mr. Mustantry (Board President) were humorous; and the leadership of Mr. Heffernan tied a nice ribbon around the package! Let's not forget our Madrigals singing "100 Years" by Five for Fighting. I still get goosebumps! Amazing job everyone, and shout out to our maintenance staff, technical staff and everyone behind the scenes who made this event very special for our grads and their families! Here is the list of grads who celebrated their accomplishment with our community last Friday - PHS Class of 2019.pdf

A huge shout out to Joy Scott who took about a million photos of the ceremony and is willing to share her photos with you - anyone with a Palisades logon should be able to see these photos using this google drive link (your children all have Palisades' logons).  Here is hoping this works for you.

PAPER CRAFTING: The Durham Historical Society is sponsoring the first in a series of craft workshops for the community. Valerie M. mARTz, a local artist, will be conducting a hands-on workshop at the Durham Mill on June 22nd from 11:00AM to 1:00PM. She will demonstrate and assist attendees in making paper boxes to store personal treasures. The boxes will be embellished with an image of the Durham Boat and will give participants a sense of satisfaction that they have mastered a craft used in the 18th and 19th centuries when all such containers were made by hand.

In addition, two simple origami figures will be demonstrated and presented. Ms. mARTz is an accomplished craftsman belonging to the PA Guild of Craftsmen and its Bucks and Lehigh Valley chapters. Her work has been featured in publications citing America’s 200 best traditional Craftsmen and she has received a White House Holiday commission. A consummate presenter, she has conducted sessions in several Pennsylvania and Delaware venues.

All supplies and equipment will be provided. The cost of the program is $40.00 per participant and the program is being provided as both a service to the community and as a fundraiser for the renovation of the Durham Mill. A minimum of 5 participants will be needed for the program to be offered and a maximum of 16 participants will be allowed to ensure that participants receive enough individual attention. This will be the only time that this particular session will be offered and the first 16 individuals to send in their registration fee will have their allotted places reserved. Registration can be done on-line using PayPal or credit card at the Historical Society’s website (www.durhamhistoricalsociety.org) or by sending a check to: Durham Historical Society PO Box 52 Durham, PA 18039
