BUDGET HIGHLIGHTS FOR THE 2022-23 SCHOOL YEAR:

The School Board approved the Proposed Final Budget presentation with a 3.4% tax increase as a “worst-case” scenario (millage increase of 3.944 mills for a new millage rate of 119.944 mills). If the budget remained as is, this would result in a real estate tax increase of roughly $135.18 to the average property owner.  The increase may still be adjusted to a lower rate, however it cannot exceed this amount at final budget.

The biggest driving force behind the expenditure budget increase is an increase in mandated special education costs of $393,725, increases in heating oil and vehicle fuel costs of $424,375 through consortium price increases, and an increase in state mandated retirement expenses of more than $250,000.

This budget shows the maximum potential tax increase allowable for the 2022-2023 year. The School Board and District Administration will continue to work toward making additional reductions to our expenditures or increases to our revenues for next year to limit any increase for taxpayers when the Final Budget is approved.

Final Budget is scheduled for a vote by the School Board on June 1.

More Prom 2022 Information

This year’s Junior and Senior Prom will take place on Monday, May 16th from 6:00-9:00 PM at The Steel Club in Hellertown. On May 16th, ALL juniors and seniors will be dismissed from school at the end of period 2. In addition, on Tuesday May 17th, ALL juniors and seniors will be given a Late Arrival, which means they will need to report for the start of their period 2 classes at 9:17 AM.

Planning this year’s prom presented unique challenges for the Student Gov’t leaders, advisors and the administration. During the Fall of 2021, when we needed to secure a facility, masking and availability of outdoor facilities were challenging factors we needed to navigate. The desire of the students was to have a maskless prom and we did not know what restrictions would be in-place during the spring of 2022. Therefore, we agreed that a venue with outdoor seating and dancing would be best. The students visited a few venues with outdoor seating accommodations and recommended The Steel Club.

Although a Monday prom is different and unique, our students are excited to have a first class facility, beautiful setting and spend time with their friends. In the future, we plan to return to a Friday or Saturday prom.

MORE INFO...
Prom season is upon us! We're sure that you see and hear the excitement more than we do and that's why we're asking for your help. If you hear or feel that a student is in need of support finding a prom dress, please reach out to the guidance office or high school administrators. We have a nice selection of dresses all ready for this special occasion!

PALISADES FAMILIES ARE INVITED TO THIS PRESENTATION...Dr. Dahlsgaard visited our school a couple of years ago:

Is your child stressed over the pressures of school?  Is your child anxious when confronting a developmentally appropriate challenge? Does your child have difficulty managing their fears and worries? Do you find yourself worrying about these things, too, and wonder how you can best help your child?

Join us on Thursday, April 28, 2022, from 7:00 to 8:30 PM in the Pennridge High School Auditorium for The Science of Helping Your Child Manage Anxiety and Stress, presented by Dr. Katherine Dahlsgaard.

Dr. Katherine Dahlsgaard will share scientifically-based strategies to help better understand and manage your child's stresses and anxieties.  As a licensed and board-certified clinical psychologist with expertise in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) for child anxiety disorders, Dr. Dahlsgaard will describe what is normal versus problematic anxiety and detail positive parenting strategies that will help you and your child to connect and thrive.
