SAYING GOODBYE TO PALMS...Mrs. Karen Chadwick Retires!

 

Karen was first hired in 1995 as a substitute secretary at Springfield Elementary.

In June 2001 - Karen became a full time secretary at PALMS celebrating 26 years of service with Palisades!


There is no question that retirement is a life event that comes with a mix of emotions and we know this wasn’t an easy decision for Karen because she truly loves her job.


Karen Chadwick was someone who …

  • Is an extremely hard worker with great attention to detail and accuracy

  • Loves every single student who ever stepped foot in PALMS

  • Is a very talented writer

  • Is very dedicated to her job and her bosses!

  • Is an all around great person and friend to many of us.


She will be missed ........best wishes Karen!

OPPORTUNITY FOR HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS TO SERVE AS A PEER COUNSELOR:

From Their Website:  At PALS, we refer to our participants without Down syndrome as Peers. Each of our Peers is paired one-to-one with a Partner, who has Down syndrome. Peers are full participants at PALS programs and serve as peer models for their partner and team. Peers must be able to participate in PALS independently and demonstrate skills and strategies in areas of socialization, participation, and representation of PALS values and commitment to inclusion. See below for more specifics.

In order to be eligible to come to camp as a Peer, an individual must:

  • Be in high school (approximately age 15) or older by the start of their program
  • Stay on-site for the duration of the program (Sunday-Saturday)
  • Independently handle all hygiene and personal care needs, and model appropriate behavior for their partner and team
  • Fully participate in all PALS activities and model participation as well as inclusion for their pair and teammates
  • Demonstrate kindness and respect towards others, embodying the PALS promise and PALS values and supporting all teammates in achieving this goal
  • Receive support as needed from team lead and other volunteer leaders

(1) Long-Term Substitute Instructional Assistant (IA)/Paraprofessional (anticipated): Part-time, 5.75 hrs/student day (hours 9 am to 3:15 pm, includes a 30 minute unpaid lunch), starting February 9, 2022 to May 10, 2022. The successful candidate will support students in the classroom, both in individual and small group settings, as directed by the teacher or supervisor at Springfield Elementary School. $20.90/hr after a successful probationary period. Although not required, those with a teaching certification are encouraged to apply.


Applicants must have strong technology skills, be highly qualified as defined by federal standards, which require either two completed years of study at an institution of higher education, an associate’s (or higher) degree, or PDE Highly Qualified certification.

PHS MUSIC STUDENTS INDUCTED INTO THE BUCKS COUNTY MUSIC EDUCATORS' ASSOCIATION (BCMEA) HONORS CHOIR FOR 2022: 

We would like to celebrate the accomplishment of acceptance into this ensemble by several of our PHS students! Out of the over 300 students that auditioned, Mr. Chaban (high school vocal music teacher) was astounded by the scores and efforts of these talented students. Please take a moment to celebrate this tremendous accomplishment with us. Each of students scored within the 'distinguished' and 'excellent' category and represented PHS with outstanding scores. On behalf of the entire Palisades Music team and the community, congratulations on earning and receiving this honor!

Here is the link for the Spring paperwork, including the physical forms. Note, physicals must have be taken after June 1 2021. Also, NEW this year, Section 7 is now the Dr.'s form you need to take with you to your physical. (Previously, section 6). If they played a fall or winter sport and turned in a physical form, they need to do the returning athlete registration. If you have not played a sport this year, you must choose the option for NEW athlete registration.  Only students in grades 9-12 need to pay the $25 pay to participate fee (please choose the Spring option).
