Secretary Ortega Visit

SECRETARY OF EDUCATION VISITS PSD!  We were honored to host a visit from Secretary Noe Ortega from the Department of Education for PA and his Executive Deputy Secretary, Dr. Deb Carrera last week.  They visited the high school to take a tour of our new science wing, meet with our newly hired teachers and their mentors, learn more about the work of the Palisades Community Foundation, meet with student leaders at PHS and learn more about the vaccination clinics we have held through the end of last year and over the summer.  A special treat for the Secretary and Executive Deputy was hearing the PHS Marching Band perform for them under the direction of Mr. Maldonado...such a talented group of students!

We are so proud of the work that our school community has done throughout the pandemic and of the successes we have achieved even during a very difficult year.  Thanks to all who participated in this visit and showcasing why Palisades is such a special place to live, work and learn!

Here are some great photos and videos from the visit showcasing Palisades:  https://pacast.com/m?p=19058

Boys Summer Soccer

CONGRATS TO THESE ATHLETES:  This summer, 4 boys from the middle school (Mason Bauer/ Blake Oglialoro/ Greyson George & Sean Camp) won the Quakertown Soccer Club 3V3 Summer Classic. Great job guys!

BACKPACKS AVAILABLE:  Thanks to donations from a family who sadly lost their granddaughter suddenly just before starting kindergarten, as well as our partners from the United Way, backpacks for students are available for FREE.  They are filled with supplies for students.  If you need a backpack, please email [email protected] with the name, grade and school where you would like to pick up.  I will deliver them to your preferred location for pick up on the morning of Friday, August 27th.  We have elementary through high school backpacks/supplies available.

FAQ FOR PARENTS/GUARDIANS:  In answer to the many questions and concerns we have been receiving on both sides of the masking issue, Dr. O’Connell, Superintendent of Palisades, will release an FAQ early next week.  As you know, last Wednesday the Board voted in favor of the Health and Safety Plan which requires masks for students and employees for the start of the school year.  Understandably families are passionate about this issue (on both sides), and as we focus on keeping students/staff safe and schools open, we will follow the direction of the Board and the Bucks County Department of Health.  We hope to answer the questions you have with the FAQ being released and appreciate your support and commitment as we welcome students back to classrooms.  We are extremely proud to have been one of the few districts that remained open for the entire school year in 20-21, and will continue to work towards keeping our schools open for the full year again this year.

For our elementary students who are entering our buildings for the first time, and for existing elementary students who wish to drop off school supplies and see their classroom, please see the Elementary Orientation Save-the-date 2021.pdf for those times on Thursday, August 26th.
