Technology Leader

Position Title: Technology Leader

Reports To: Building Principal, Technology Group Manager

Qualifications:

  1. Possesses a general knowledge of PC hardware and software.
  2. Has a working knowledge of MS Windows Operating Systems, Microsoft Office components and the ability to trouble shoot issues on these products.
  3. Has a general knowledge of other software products used in the building.
  4. Has a basic knowledge of web development issues and understands the content and purpose of the web site content policy.
  5. Has an ability to teach and mentor fellow co-workers in technology related areas.
  6. Is committed to integration of technology in the classroom.
  7. Relates well with co-workers and administrators.

Responsibilities:

  1. Promote and facilitate staff professional technology development in partnership with the building principal, other technology leaders, district technology staff and the district technology committee through

a. quarterly identification of staff progress and training needs;

b. scheduling and/or providing appropriate levels of training including being a mentor, participating in providing building level courses, participating in providing district level courses and identifying other appropriate training opportunities to district staff;

c. use hardware and software problems as a training opportunity to expand staff knowledge and skill level.

  1. Promote and facilitate technology integration into the classroom and the curriculum in partnership with the district curriculum committee, district technology committee, principals, department heads, other technology leaders, teachers and students. This includes

a. assisting in the technology curriculum development, evaluation and evolution process;

b. assisting in the identification and coordination of hardware and software acquisitions;

c. coordinating hardware maintenance requests;

d. facilitating the communication of techniques to effectively use district technology in the classroom.

  1. Know, communicate and, as appropriate, suggest solutions to the building principal, other technology leaders, district technology committee and building staff about

a. the building technology needs,

b. the staff training needs,

c. the student and curriculum technology needs, and

d. the student technology uses.

Hours:

It is anticipated that approximately 150 hours of time beyond the current work schedule will be needed to accomplish possible summer, evening or weekend training sessions, attend meetings, and do planning and coordination of training and technology integration.
