Computer Technician

Position Title: Computer Technician.

Reports To: Director of Technology

Qualifications:

  • Formal education and/or training in computer science, computer repair and/or related technologies.
  • Experience with troubleshooting and repair of computer equipment in a multi-OS stand-alone and network environment.
  • Experience with troubleshooting software related issues for a variety of software packages, including Microsoft Office.
  • Strong people skills in working around students and working with technical and non-technical people.
  • Proven ability to effectively handle multiple priorities.

Responsibilities:

  • Assure District computer systems are operational in cooperation with the Building Contacts, Director of Technology and technology vendors through the technology maintenance process.
  • Assist in the maintenance of audiovisual, telephone and networking equipment.
  • Stage voice and data cabling projects.
  • Fully build, service, and install PC's (hardware and software)
  • Maintain and troubleshoot any network related issues (WLAN, LAN, VLAN, WAN)
  • Assist with server maintenance and upkeep (backups, restarts)
  • Keep data closets neat and well documented
  • Assist with user accounts (access, e-mail, lockouts)
  • Create and deploy software images across multiple buildings and classrooms
  • Assist with AV Setups for presentations (events, board meetings, assemblies)
  • Printer installation and repair (local, network)
  • Assist with IT Project Management during building renovations
  • Utilize the helpdesk to keep clients informed about the status of their requests
  • Maintain confidentiality while dealing with passwords lists and access to camera systems, servers, e-mail, voicemail and other critical systems
  • Work with other Technology Group Resources to focus on the three Technology Group Objectives and Responsibilities;
  • As economically possible, keep district technology functional,
  • Develop knowledgeable teachers, staff and volunteers, and
  • Help chart and maintain the cost effective acquisition and use of district technology.
  • Participate as a technical resource for various district committees and organizations as requested by the Director of Technology.
  • Perform other tasks as assigned by the Director of Technology and Superintendent.
