Audiovisual and Communications Technician

Position Title: Audiovisual & Communications Technician.

Reports To: Director of Technology

Qualifications:

  • Formal education and/or training in electrical engineering, data and telecommunications infrastructure and/or related technologies.
  • Experience with troubleshooting, repair and installation of telecommunications and data communications equipment.
  • Experience with troubleshooting and repair and installation of audiovisual equipment.
  • Experience and/or education with troubleshooting and repair of personal computers a plus.
  • Strong people skills in working around students and working with technical and non-technical people.
  • Proven ability to effectively handle multiple priorities.
  • Has the ability to work without direct supervision

Responsibilities:

  • Assure District network equipment, audiovisual equipment, telephone equipment and associated wiring are operational in cooperation with the Building Contacts, Director of Technology, Computer Technician(s) and technology vendors through the technology maintenance process.
  • Maintain intercom, centralized clock and bell systems and related equipment.
  • Organize and operate audiovisual equipment for special functions.
  • Co-ordinate and/or repair audiovisual and related equipment.
  • Work with other Technology Group Resources to focus on the three Technology Group Objectives and Responsibilities;
  1. As economically possible, keep district technology functional,
  2. Develop knowledgeable teachers, staff and volunteers, and
  3. Help chart and maintain the cost effective acquisition and use of district technology.
  • Participate as a technical resource for various district committees and organizations as requested by the Director of Technology.

Duties Now:

  • Maintain district wide fiber network
  • Maintain building wide clock and bell systems - all buildings
  • Maintain building wide intercom systems - all buildings
  • Maintain scoreboards systems in HS and PALMS
  • Install + Maintain district wide Phone / Voicemail system
  • Install + Maintain district wide wireless data network
  • Install + Maintain building wide copper data network - all buildings
  • Install + Maintain building wide TV cable networks - all buildings
  • Maintain all Audio Visual equipment district wide
  • Repair and maintain district wide printers
  • Maintain district wide inventory stock
  • Assist with computer - server maintenance and trouble shooting
  • Perform confidential duties on network, server, e-mail, security, phone and voicemail systems
