PHS PRESENTS...Fiddler on the Roof this weekend!  Performances on Friday and Saturday at 7PM and matinee on Sunday at 2PM.  Tickets are on sale at the door:  $10/adults and $5/students.

WIZARDS EVENT WAS A HUGE SUCCESS!

Basketball antics, music, and high energy fun raised the roof off of the PHS gymnasium on Monday, February 25th when the Palisades Band of Pirates challenged the Harlem Wizards on the court!  Special thanks to our coaches, players, PSD staff, volunteers, and our sponsors for helping to make this family-fun event so exciting for our kiddos!

INDOOR TRACK AND FIELD STATE CHAMPION!

Last weekend, Lydia Bottelier competed in the high jump at the PA indoor state championship.  Lydia successfully defended her title, clearing 5'8" to win the gold medal! This is her fourth overall state championship in the high jump.

PHS WRESTLERS COMPETING IN PIAA 2A REGIONAL TOURNAMENT THIS WEEKEND:
Last weekend in the District XI 2A tournament, Nate Haubert placed 2nd at 145 lbs, Jon DeNato placed 3rd at 126 lbs, Adam Marsh placed 3rd at 182 lbs, and Ben Haubert placed 4th at 138 lbs. These wrestlers are competing in the PIAA 2A Regional tournament this weekend at Wilson West Lawn HS. Good Luck Pirates!

At the District XI Tournament last weekend, PHS senior, Adam Marsh, joined this prestigious club of winners!  Adam took 3rd place in his weight class and competes in Regionals this weekend!

SHOUT OUT TO OUR POETRY CONTEST SEMI-FINALIST, MADELINE SMITH:

Once again, congratulations to PHS sophomore Madeline Smith, who has been chosen as a semi-finalist in the Lake Effect National High School Poetry Contest. Over 1900 high school students from across the country entered this annual competition run by Penn State. This nomination represents great achievement in creative writing!  We wanted to share her work:

Oliver Olmstead 

KUDOS TO OLIVER OLMSTEAD, PHS SOPHOMORE ACCEPTED TO THE GOVERNOR'S SCHOOL THIS SUMMER!
Oliver was accepted from among 100's of very competitive applicants to attend the Pennsylvania Governor's School for Global and International Studies this summer. TINICUM STUDENTS RAISE MONIES FOR ST. JUDE'S HOSPITAL:

Fourteen Tinicum 3rd graders raised $918.83 for St. Jude Children's Research Hospital by participating in the Math-A-Thon.  Thanks for teaching our youth to give back!

Bus Traffic Info

FROM OUR TRANSPORTATION DEPARTMENT:
This is a reminder that PA State Police will be riding our buses occasionally to monitor other cars on the road to ensure that drivers are obeying traffic rules and not passing buses illegally. 
 
PLEASE NOTE:  The law requires vehicles to stop 20' from any bus that has its red lights flashing and stop arm extended; cars may not move closer until the lights are extinguished and the stop arm is retracted.

Also, students with cell phones may also subscribe to the SAFESTOP app to keep track of their bus pick up on the mornings especially when weather is tricky.  Here are the instructions - PalisadesSchoolDistrict_RegistrationDoc2018.pdf

Finally, this is just a reminder that a 3 Hour Delay option is a possibility if needed.  Please see the graphic below for the 3 Hour Delay Schedule IF NEEDED:
